New for 2008, is the Emiselene bed by Mazzali. Exceptionally made with a half circle bottom the bed is a one of a kind design. The curving structure is not just for the aesthetics, it serves another concealed purpose as a storage space. This bed will surely grab some attention.
The bedroom also has a matching low bedside table and chest of drawers which are sold seperately. The chest of drawers’ bottom mimics the curve of the bed, this pulls the set together. Included with the bed is either a fabric or leather cushion roll. The bed is made of plywood and solidwood, with an oak or cherry veneer. It can also be painted one of 118 water-based colors. Viteo Shower
Just when you thought nothing new could be done with showers, Danny Venlet has come out with a new incredible concept with the outdoor shower. The Viteo shower is not an ordinary shower. You can easily see that it is a circular disc that you stand on, what you can’t see is how it works. No, those jets of water aren’t coming out of any shower head or ceiling unit. PH Artichoke Gold
The PH Artichoke Gold is a glare-free light which is soon to be a sought after collector’s piece. Louis Poulsen will only have 50 limited edition, numbered fixtures manufactured, so get them while you can. The masterful light was made by Poul Henningsen and was first created 40 years ago. This gold version of the PH Artichoke is the anniversary edition and is only made in a 840mm diameter version.
It is made with 72 leaves placed on 12 steel arches and the light source is not visible from any angle. Pretty, cool! With a high lustre finish, it is first made in copper. The leaves which measure at 6×12 are superfinished and covered in 24 carat gold, then coated in a clear varnish. This lamp is really a piece of art. A chrome plated, spun aluminum lampholder and canopy are also available for the light. The PH Artichoke will be 70,000 EUR or 109,073 USD and is only sold by Louis Poulsen.
Jar
Fire is fast becoming part of home design in and out of the home. Planika’s new Jar collection combines the Glassfire Technology with glass, concrete and fire. Designed by Christoph Pillet, the Jar makes having fire anywhere you want it, possible.
The Jar is 29.47in x 16.11in and is made with a concrete base. With a full fuel container the Jar will burn for 1,5 hours. A collaboration by Designer Anne Kitzmiller and Kohler kitchen design and engineering brings the Crevasse Prep Sink. The sink offers more work room and an easy to use system. The prep sink is made specifically for the use of prepping food and clean up, with no excessive space used. It’s long, sleek and made on an incline to allow everything to flow to the garbage disposal.
A touch system ensures no accidental activation. The control is only activated by human touch and it controls the disposal and water flow. This high end kitchen is very customizable. It has a number of options for doors, handles and the structures. The laminated doors comes in 127 matte colors and three types of wood or you can have aluminum. Microline doors are offered in 12 different types including zebrano and teak.
The drawing rack and wall units are made either all glass or glass and laminated doors. Glass and laminate make a striking combination. Sottsass Collection
Decorating has never been so easy. The Sottsass collection, by Laurameroni, boasts simplicity and clean lines with an industrial flair to it. Made up of 5 elements, the collection features glass, dyed woods and steel.
The base of the structures are made of bright stainless with protruding steel support rods upholding the top. The rods appear to make geometric patterns on the reflective base. Ultra-light transparent glass adds form to each element of the collection. Dyed oak and maple woods are a distinctive use of color for the glass case and sideboard.
