An Iconic Hotel Renovation Down Under

This new bar, looking like nothing so much as a stack of beer cans, has been appended to the iconic old 1940s-era Prahran Hotel in Melbourne.

Techné Architects designed the interesting addition by way of renovating the popular meeting spot.

The street-facing facade is bold, rising four levels above the sidewalk.

The construction uses a mass produced industrial product, the cement pipes used to channel water.

But once ensconced within the concrete pipe, the warm wood interior makes for a cosy space to meet for snacks and beers with friends.
It is located in the sort of area that has recently become a trendy night spot, and the interiors reflect this with reclaimed woods, steel, glass, rustic brick and industrial concrete water pipes.
